Tom’s birth name is Michael Thomas Green and he was born on July 30, 1971, in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. Tom is the son of Mary Jane and Richard Green. His mother was a communications consultant while his father was a computer systems analyst and was also a retired army captain.

Tom Green grew up on a Canadian Army base near Pembroke as his father was an army captain when Tom was a child. Tom then joined Colonel By Secondary School before later joining Cairine Wilson Secondary School. He later studied television broadcasting at Algonquin College and graduated in 1994.

Tom Green started performing stand-up comedy at the age of 15 at local comedy clubs. His most popular place was Yuk Yuk’s comedy club. He continued with the performances for two and a half years until he got a road trip with his rap group to New York.
