She had a successful career in the film industry. People loved her acting in the films and always supported her in every situation. In 1998, she was cast in the role that would make her a household name: Laurie Forman on That ’70s Show. She appeared on the show for five seasons until issues with alcohol caused her to leave the program.

She abruptly left the show midway through the third season, and the show’s writers removed her character to attend beauty school. She returned Christina Moore to the show in the fifth season for four episodes in the sixth season. On March 31, 2012, a felony charge of corporal injury upon a spouse led to Kelly’s arrest, and $10,000 bail secured her release.

The charge was based on a complaint filed by her ex-boyfriend, John Michas. She later publicly stated that Michas assaulted her, denying his claim that she assaulted him. In November 2012, police in North Carolina, arrested the 42-year-old Kelly and her 61-year-old husband, Robert Joseph Gilliam, after responding to a disturbance at their home.

The court charged both with assault and released them on bond. On June 23, 2013, law enforcement arrested Kelly for suspected DUI after responding to a call about a parked car blocking a lane of traffic.

She later filed for divorce and a restraining order against Gilliam.  Kelly died in her sleep at the facility on August 15, 2013, at age 43. On January 3, 2014, the Los Angeles Department of Coroner concluded that her death was due to an accidental unspecified oral multiple drug intoxication.
