Cordae started out with writing his raps as a teenager at age 15. He joined Towson University but dropped out in 2018 and focused on creating a musical career.

Cordae’s Musical Career

Cordae’s career started with him being part of YBN. After dropping out of college, Cordae relocated to Los Angeles and that’s where he met two YBN rappers that he had talked to via social media. Their meeting soon enabled Cordae to join the hip hop YBN group and they worked on different projects, including releasing remixes.

Cordae’s remix of Eminem’s “My Name Is” gave him popularity as it went viral. He didn’t stop at that and proceeded to work on other remixes and live performances with YBN. Under YBN collective, Cordae went on a Europe tour and the collective also released a mixtape in 2008 that was well received and appeared top 30 on the Billboard 200.

However, the YBN collective disbanded in 2020 and each member took a solo path. Cordae released his debut studio album in July 2019.
