Luke Hudson Gavigan is the son of American actress Jessica Capshaw, who is mainly known for her role as Arizona Robbins in Grey’s Anatomy. Luke Hudson’s mother was born in Columbia, Missouri. Her stepfather is Steven Spielberg, a famous American filmmaker. Given that her father was in the entertainment industry, it was expected of her to join him in continuing with the family legacy. In 1997, when Luke’s mother was in college, she decided to venture into acting, landing her first role in The Locusts. The following year, she landed another role in the film Denial.
Over the years, Jessica continued to play various roles, but her breakthrough came in 2009 when she became a regular on the medical show Grey’s Anatomy.
It had been previously announced that she would play the role of Arizona Robbins, a pediatric surgeon on several episodes. However, she became a regular in season six of the show. Luke’s mom continued appearing on the show until March 2018, when she left the show. The show’s producers noted that Jessica left the show for creative reasons. She went on her Twitter handle (now App X), mentioning the impact her role on the show had.
