Jeff Foxworthy was born on September 6, 1958, in Atlanta Georgia. His father Jimmy was an executive at IBM, and it enabled Jeff to have the best education. He joined Hapeville High School and went on to further his studies at Atlanta’s Georgia Institute of Technology. He dropped out before he would graduate and began doing some small jobs.

Immediately after dropping out, he began working with his father at IBM. He was so vibrant at telling jokes at the workplace, that his colleagues encouraged him to enter the Great Southeastern Laugh-Off contest at the Punchline comedy club. He entered the contest in 1984, won the contest, and decided to pursue a comedy career.

Career Success

Foxworthy became a recognized comedian for his famous line “You Might Be a Redneck If”. The phrase became a hit in 1993 which dominated his 1993 album. The album was named after the catchphrase and it peaked on the charts, making him a recognized comedian.

Foxworthy has released six albums throughout his career, and he remains one of the best-selling comedy recording artists of all time. His 1995 album Games Rednecks Play was nominated for the Best-Spoken Comedy Album Grammy in 1996.
