Annahita Mahdavi is an Iranian-American psychologist, professor, and scholar. She is also the beloved wife of Cornel West, an American philosopher, activist, and politician. Her husband, Cornel, was running in the US presidential race as an independent candidate. However, he has not been actively campaigning, and it’s unclear if he is still in the race, though he would love it if Trump wins the election.
Early Life
Annahita was born and grew up in Iran. It was not easy growing up in Iran due to the violence and other forms of oppression. However, she pulled through and then moved to the United States. Despite being the wife of a known political figure, Annahita has kept most of her personal life away from the public. As such, little is known about her early life and her parents. However, her brothers and sisters lived in Sweden.

In her essay, where she talked about the crisis in Iran, she mentions how her family had to move to other countries for their safety. In an interview with Christopher Phillips, she mentioned that her father died in 2015, and even though she has not gone back to Iran in close to forty years, she has family in Iran.

Barely two weeks later, Cornel West announced that he would try to vie for the presidential seat through the Green Party nomination. After winning the nomination, he continued campaigning up to October 2023, when he announced that he would run as an independent candidate. Early this year, Annahita’s husband and his running mate announced that they would form a party to use in the top-seat bid. However, he was disqualified in August 2024 and it is unclear if he is still in the presidential race.
