Grover Asmus formally known as Col Grover Woodrow Asmus, served in the US army till 1972, promoted to the rank of colonel and was General Omar Bradley’s last chief of staff. He was the husband of Oscar award winning actress Donna Reed. He was the founding president of The Donna Reed Foundation for performing arts in 1987. He was a member of the Randolph Macon Advisory Council, served two terms as president of west point society of Los Angeles and was on the Donna Reed Foundation as Board of Directors

Donna Reed was born on January 27 1921 in Denison, Lowa. She first worked as a secretary studied stenography and office efficiency at Los Angeles city college on Vermont avenue in Los Angeles. Her first role was in the film The Get Away after being signed with Metro Goldwyn Mayer in 1941. She won an Oscar award in the film From Here to Eternity and her breakthrough was an ideal wife and mother on TVs The Donna Reed show’ from 1958.
She won an Academy award as best supporting actress for her role in From Here to Eternity. She’s been featured in films like It’s a Wonderful Life, The Best Place to Be, Love Boat which was filmed in Hong Kong, Green Dolphin Street, The Last Time I Saw Paris, The Picture of Dorian Gray and The Benny Goodman Story. She was featured on television shows such as The Ford Television Theatre, General Electric Theatre, Suspicion and Tales of Hans Anderson,
Her last role was as Miss Ellie on CBS TV’S soap opera ‘Dallas’ this was after Barbara Bel withdrew after a heart surgery. She had a three-year contract and when the producer rehired Barbara, she filed a $7.5 million law suit since she had signed a three-year contract and in August, she received a $1 million settlement. She was a leader of the Another Mother for Peace Movement against Vietnam War.
Donna was married in 1943 to William Tuttle and divorced in 1945, later and married Antony Owen. They had four children, Timothy born in 1949 and Mary born in 1957 and adopted Penny Jane and Antony. Unfortunately, they divorced and that when she married Grover Asmus until her death. Shad been hospitalized for ulcers and malignancy in the pancreas was discovered, she died at the age of 64 from pancreatic cancer in her home in Beverly hills surrounded by her family and husband Grover Asmus.
Family Life Of Grover Asmus
Asmus was born on January 2 1926 in north Bergen, NJ. He attended Randolph Macon Academy and drew university and in 1946 he graduated from US military academy and later pursued a masters degree in petroleum engineering at university of Pittsburg. He was married to Donna Reed from 1974 to 1986 till she died. In his book In Search of Donna Reed, he says that he proposed every day during their three-year courtship. Asmus died on 11th October 2003 in his home palm desert, California.
